Lovely! Especially as we didn't start our journey with you until well into the year.

We only plan one trip at a time so beyond a camp in the Sahara desert in Morrocco and some time in Essaouira on the coast in January, we're not sure...

Happy 2025 travels from us both. Jodi!

Thanks guys, Morrocco certainly sounds magical to me! Wishing you the best in 2025! 🧡

Happy new year to you! I will continue to find my magic in France's "villes moyennes," or medium-sized towns, and perhaps add some villages. After living here for 34 years, I suddenly, somehow, don't really want to travel anywhere else, except back to the States now and then. Odd, isn't it?

Pretty understandable, I think! Just out of curiosity, what would you name as your favorite towns in France? Happy New Year to you!

There are so many that I don't know at all -- thus my project! But a few that come to mind are Albi, Auxerre, Figeac, Vichy, and Bourges. These are all medium-sized towns. However, I'm traditional as far as my very favorite French city of all: Paris!

One of them is Ambleside I think?

jodi {beautiful things}'s avatar

Not quite, but close! One is Keswick (the boat on the lake), but I suspect you're looking at the grey stone building, which looks a lot like Ambleside. It's actually Betws-y-Coed, in Wales.:)

Amen to magic!

Nice wrap of the year.

I’ll have a go at your upcoming locations matrix, not going to get them all but some I’m sure of.

Innsbruck, Keswick, Edinburgh

??, Salzburg, Bruges

Eryri/Snowdonia, ?(Alsace?), Rome

jodi {beautiful things}'s avatar

Good job - so close!! I'm impressed. The upper left is Lucerne, and the middle row is Salzburg, Prague, Bruges, otherwise you got them all! Full points. :)

Thanks — but darn it, I really should have got Prague. Though it's some excuse that it's over 30 years since I was there (1991, fascinating time to be in a former Eastern Bloc state).

Hello Jodi, it has been an enjoyable ride since the moment we met on Substack, and like you I still have a list of places I was going to write about but got side tracked with writing about my art instead and now my life, starting with my ancestors. I will get back to travel, but first I need to get back to painting. Perhaps I will do Notes instead and progressively show what I am doing?? Happy New Year 🥳🥂🎉

jodi {beautiful things}'s avatar

Happy New Year to you, Sally! 🎉 One of my New Year's resolutions is to catch up with all of my favorite writers on Substack - I'm looking forward to reading about your ancestors!

I am ashamed to admit that I rudely plagarised your tour of Rouen with my 22 year old daughter in August last year. It was fabulous and I can’t thank you enough for all your inspiration. I love your newsletters and as an Australian woman of a certain age, living in Australia, I look forward to living MY 22 year old dream in 2025. Thank you.

What a lovely comment, thank you so much! Nothing is more exciting than hearing that someone has enjoyed my writing on location. I hope all of your dreams come true in 2025!!
