Thank you so much for what you're doing! And thank you gazillion times for the inspiration your work gives me!

You know what I like to say....Begin Again.....

Standing by.

I understand that a creative life is a life of the seasons. Wintering over, new life in spring, the blooms of summer, the harvesting , then dying in the autumn. Take your time.

Thank you Alecia! That's it, 100%. You just say it more beautifully than I can. ❤️

Bravo taking time out, Jodi. Very much with you on the paywall- we started this for the love of food and travel, not to earn money.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to catching up with your wonderful posts when I return, too!!

I needed a break after 3 months! Enjoy your time and as others have said, we're not going anywhere. Oh, and I really want to know where that first photo was taken!

jodi {beautiful things}'s avatar

Thank you Betty!! 💕 The photo is in Auray, in Brittany. It's such a picture perfect cafe, isn't it? I think it's the one photo more than any other that makes me long to return to France.

It is perfect! I’ve hardly ever been to Brittany and am looking forward to getting up there someday. It’s very far away, though.

Hi Jodie, it must be the time of the year to take a break. I have decided after my last post next week that I will also be taking a break, but an extended one as I have been finding that Substack somehow is taking over my life. I have enjoyed the friendships made, but I feel I need to get back to living a freer life and return to my art room which has been severely neglected over the past months. You know I always enjoy reading your articles, so enjoy your change and no doubt I will sneak a look from time to time. Hugs 🤗💐

Thank you Sally! I completely understand, it can feel overwhelming, can't it?? That's part of my decision, too, the feeling of overwhelm I feel whenever I log on. Enjoy your time away, however long it may be - and I hope we'll still see you around once in a while! And maybe writing again. I've always appreciated your support so much! 🤗

Don’t worry Jodi, you will still have that as part of my favourite people 💐

I struggle too with paid content--as there are only so many anyone could possibly afford. Beautiful photos, and I suspect, wise decision.

jodi {beautiful things}'s avatar

Thank you Mary!! It's tough, isn't it??

Thanks for opening up the archive, in particular for the piece on the Fortuny museum. I made it to the shop when I was in Venice last year (my first time), but not to the museum. It's definitely at the top of the list for the next time I go!

It might be the only peaceful place in Venice!
